My students need to understand how much fun it is to get organized by trying out different homework folders, making labels for their binders, and having access to everything they need right at their tables.
My students are ready and eager to learn. It is instilled at home and school that doing your best is important and my students are motivated to excel. Once they hit middle school, staying organized gets more complex and I want to help them hit the ground running!
There are many ways to be organized and I want to provide options for the organizationally challenged.
Helping students find what works will eliminate some of the stress that keeps them from focusing on learning.
My Project
Students will be able to use the label maker to label index tabs, put their names on a favorite pen, or identify homework and classwork folders. There are three options for keeping track of homework (pocket folders, slash folders, and sheet protectors) and a hole-punch to make sure papers do not fall out of binders. Pens, pencils, and any class supplies will go right on the tables so students have everything they need to participate in class. An art caddy will make sure all our art supplies have a place.
Organization is an ongoing process and it takes some time and experimentation to find what works.
Making it personalized and fun is a good way to keep it going.
