My Students

I work in a title I school. We are the highest poverty school in our county. Everyone in my school receives free breakfast and most receive free lunches, too. We even have programs to send food bags home with the students to ensure that they have food in their house when they get home from school. Most of my kids come into my classroom empty handed. Simple school supplies brighten up their day. They might not have much, but they are thankful for the things that they do have and for the people that help them in their times of need.

My Project

Our students use calculators in math each day. The calculators help our struggling students to overcome the deficiencies of basic math facts. Calculators will help to build our students' confidence, when completing the class assignments, as well as boost their morale. As of now, we do not have enough calculators for all students. We are sharing them. The ones we are sharing are broken and the numbers are not displayed clearly. With new calculators, we could see our students becoming empowered, knowing that others out there believe in their education as much as we do. Our students would be truly grateful for receiving such an incredible donation.
