My students need these materials so that they can actively engage in learning about time! With analog and digital clocks, my students will be able to master the skills of both telling and setting the time.
Our school serves students with a range of abilities and disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, physically fragile, and specific learning disabilities.
Many of my students come from homes filled with economic hardship and trauma.
65% of our students are African American, 35% are Hispanic. We have the highest percentage of students with an individualized education plan (IEP) in the district and in my class alone, I have 2 IEPs and 3 English Language Learners. Our classroom is humble and inviting, and contains little technology and manipulatives. I have ESL teachers and Special Education teachers visiting my classroom often.
My Project
With individual learning clocks and a teacher-modeling clock, students will be able to actively engage in telling time! They will be able to set the clock hands to the nearest hour, half-hour, and minute.
It is important for scholars to understand how time affects their daily life, so they will use these hands-on learning clocks when collaborating to solving real-life word problems.
Along with learning how to read an analog clock, it's important that our young scholars also learn how digital clocks as they embark on 21st-century learning. Students will be able to use the magnetic timers for several different activities and games when building math fact knowledge.
