My Students

My students are a mix of regular education students and ESE students. They are eager to learn and to please. They are a fantastic bunch of kids. We are a Title 1 school with more than 50% of our students on free and reduced lunch. It is a great, hard working, middle class neighborhood with a lot of single parent homes. We are also home to a unique and amazing non profit foster care system and those children attend our school as well.

My Project

Perfection is difficult or almost impossible to achieve...our curriculum isn’t perfect and it isn’t always designed with every child in mind. There are no cookie cutter children and classrooms need the ability to serve all children on their individual learning level. I have adapted flexible seating for my entire class and now I’m on to the next phase. Adding tablets, headphones and technology pieces to our classroom will allow us access to online programs that will help close the gap, enhance the curriculum and reach children that the standard curriculum can’t. All children have the ability to lean, they just need the right tools.
