How do you describe such diverse and interesting Lieblinge?
My students range from grades 6 through 9, so ages 11 through 15!
They're going through many changes and challenges but have decided to study German. Some are exploring world languages, others just German, and still others have made the plunge to learn the language in depth!
My 6th graders are inquisitive and unfamiliar with the structures of language. They're learning to be more global. My 7th graders are motivated and curious. They've taken their first steps into something new!
My junior high students have decided to not just explore, but to learn my favorite language! German is now a daily part of their lives. My German 1s are learning not only German grammar and vocabulary, but English as well. My German 2s are familiar and capable—moving out of novice and into intermediate.
My Project
As what commonly happens in foreign language education, due to scheduling and trying to fulfill the needs of many diverse students, I have a combined German 1/2 split this year.
This means, I have to teach two different classes in the same room during the same hour.
It's been a challenge and I find myself not providing the best educational experience for either class. The idea for this projector is to set it up with my personal computer on my side white board so that my second year German students will have equal access to the material. I'll still be splitting my time teaching but will have the ability to leave notes, presentations, or worksheets up for them to use while I work with the other class.
I rely heavily on projecting my notes. I have a student with an IEP who requires large text an it helps him to maintain and stay engaged in the class. This portable projector will be a vital asset to my teaching.
