Help me give my students access to fiction and non-fiction related texts. The iPad will be used to generate interactive activities related to monthly thematic units (i.e., August will be All About Dinosaurs).
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My room is a whole lot more than a classroom; it's a place where students and staff can find opportunities for structure, exploration, creativity, cooking, and play. It's unique in that the current student to staff ratio is 1:1. With this ratio, we are able to invest our full attention to each of our wonderful students.
If you were to visit our room, you will find two third grade boys, two fifth grade boys, three very hardworking paraprofessionals, a speech pathologist, an occupational therapist, me, and a whole lot of LOVE.
My Project
These materials will allow my students to access fiction and non-fiction books throughout the year.
The curriculum I use in my classroom, Made For Me Literacy, provides a different thematic focus each month (i.e., September is All About Apples).
Within this curriculum, there is a fiction and non-fiction book suggested to read. This curriculum provides art projects, interactive activities, and assessment tools, accessible on the iPad, that directly relate to the books I have requested. Using technology in addition to hard copies of books will provide my students with multiple opportunities to learn! I believe these materials will help them succeed.
