I teach at a high risk campus with majority of students living in poverty. They come from families who are low income immigrants. My students lack the support of parents because they have working parents who work different hourly shifts. In their short lives they have experience hardships and rough situations that have impacted their learning experiences and academic growth. Most of my students have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey and lost much of their personal belongings.
Though they have encountered many obstacles in their short lives, these extraordinary students have a passion for learning like no other.
They come to school ready to learn and eager to see what they day has for them. They enjoy reading, coloring, and completing hands on activities that will engage their minds to reach a critical thinking stage. They are curious and willing to try something new. They are easily motivated and encouraged to do their best. They have learned that they can overcome anything that holds them back.
My Project
My students will have options to choose the the wobble chairs or balance balls in the classroom to make their learning comfortable. The wobble chairs will be set around the classroom so the students will have the choice of finding an area that is perfect for them. There are times when students get restless and frustrated when they have been in their chair for so long.
With this project the students will be able to enjoy learning in away that will make them feel comfortable and less restricting.
My students will enjoy the flexible seating, while learning and collaborating with each other. This furniture will be beneficial to those students who get restless after along day of learning.
