This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"We must all do theater, to find out who we are, and to discover who we can become." - Agustol Boal

The theatre students at our high school are a dedicated bunch.

They are a small group but have big hearts and great goals. They work extremely hard to balance their grades as well as participate in the MANY different extracurricular activities they participate in.

The theatre department has become home for many of our students who may not be good at sports or may not be the highest ranking students in school. They are the misfits, nerds, loners, and wannabes who have come out of their shells and found a place where they belong.

My Project

Careers in technology are growing at an alarming rate. Theater students are continuously learning technology in theater through managing the lighting.

Students learn to set lights and learn which light is patched to what dimmer.

They have to adjust lighting to set different varieties of mood for different shows.

My students need a 12-foot ladder to easily reach the light on the stage floor. They are consistently having to find one to borrow from someone in order to set lighting for their upcoming shows. They need to learn how to set lights and replace the lamps inside the fixtures.

There are jobs in the world that pay good money to people who can set and run lights for different performances. This ladder will allow students to have more hands-on training in the theater classroom.
