Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My preschool and kindergarten students require individualized learning programs based up their diverse, specific needs and learning differences. Having had the privilege of teaching some of them for several years, watching their accomplishments and growth is nothing short of amazing, especially considering the challenges they face every day due to their disability.
I try to always focus on abilities because learning challenges can be overcome or minimized when teachers believe in their students.
It is my hope that creating a strong foundation for learning in preschool will create lifelong, successful learners.
My Project
My students need writing supplies. Short markers will build strength and endurance for writing and coloring tasks and promote a tripod grasp which is essential for writing. Vibrating pens will increase input to the hand for so many of my students who struggle with sensory challenges when writing.
Many of the supplies that are needed to help students who struggle with writing are not available in a typical school supply closet.
Tab dividers and sheet protectors are needed for student binders which are used to track progress. Finally, card stock paper and laminating sheets are supplies that are needed to create durable visual materials to support student learning.
