Do you remember how exciting it was as a child to write on the chalkboard? My class is supplied with individual whiteboards but don't have the necessary white board markers to write on them. Please help my class get the basic supplies needed for writing.
I am fortunate to have a diverse group of students.
They are excited to learn and show enthusiasm in everything they do. This enthusiasm is evident when they participate in class. With today's economic problems, many of the students are unable to bring basic supplies to school.
My Project
I am fortunate to have a class set of individual whiteboards. The students keep these whiteboards at their desks and use them throughout the day. These are used daily for math. It is very easy to see who understands math concepts by glancing quickly around the room when the students display their answers. It takes seconds to spot a problem and correct it, so that the child achieves success. The students get excited about showing their work on their "own" whiteboard and enjoy sharing their answers. Additionally, we need pencils and pencil sharpeners to use daily in all subjects.
With 34 students in class, it is quick and easy to see if a child understands the concept that we are going over if he/she is writing the answer on his/her whiteboard.
It takes seconds to correct a mistake and monitor how the child is doing. An ample supply of whiteboard markers will make it possible for all the students, including students who come into my class during rotation time, to participate and feel successful and excited about their learning.
