My Students

I strive to provide a consistent, safe place where students feel loved and accepted. Students engage in intentional, authentic learning experiences that stimulate curiosity and creativity.

Learning should be fun in kindergarten!

I am a kindergarten teacher, at a Title I school in Oklahoma. Our school currently serves approximately 500 students, and includes many special academic programs, as well as, services for students with special needs. Fifty-six percent of our students receive free or reduced priced lunch. I currently have 25 students in my class, who come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. They are diverse in their prior knowledge and skill level. They are curious, intelligent, and spunky, and they love to learn!

My Project

One of the most inspiring things to teach in Kindergarten is writing! Kindergarteners often enter the school year writing through drawing, and leave writing in complete sentences!

This writing center table will give my students the space to work and create as writers during center time in our classroom.

At this high interest center, students work on independent writing during center time and create things such as lists, sentences, letters, cards, stories, books, pictures with labels, and so on. They work completely on their level and write about their interests and life!

Kindergarteners are inspired that they can communicate their thoughts in a new medium - writing!
