My students are eager to learn. They walk into my classroom every day, ready to learn and full of life. They love working with each other and are very curious about the world around them.
I teach in a Title I school, and my students come from a variety of backgrounds.
Over sixty percent of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. They are ready for a 21st-century learning environment that helps them develop collaboration skills. These skills will prepare them for what the future holds. They also love participating in our weekly STEM/STEAM activities.
My Project
My students love to be creative! Writing is a great way to show a student's creative ability.
Writing is an important skill to teach to first graders!
The nine months of first grade are arguably the most important in a student's schooling. Writing, like reading, takes a variety of forms in the first-grade classroom. Children “invent” their spellings as they work out their understandings of written language. Writing activities include journal writing, writing creative stories, or documenting their work in other subject areas. These primary journals are a wonderful way to showcase my first graders writing journey. Thank you for considering my project!
