Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Let the fun begin! For many Fourth Grade students writing can be a difficult and stressful process, especially with FCAT. My goal is to make the writing process as engaging and enjoyable as possible for all students by having plenty of materials and manipulatives to work with during writing time.
Welcome to our Fourth Grade Classroom!
In our room, students will be learning about writing Narrative and Expository stories. Many fourth grade students at our school feel anxious about the writing process; to make the process easier for them, my plan is to ensure that all of my students have access to supplies and manipulatives for our writing workshop.
My Project
I am about to embark into my first year of teaching, and I want to make sure I am prepared to foster a positive environment where my students feel that they can be successful with the writing process, I want them to enjoy it! Some of the materials requested are 2" dividers, pencils, highlighters, colored and lined paper, and materials to keep us organized! My students will use the donated materials to create their very own writing notebooks! In their notebooks the students will be able to show off their imaginations by creating storyboards and stories on both colored and white paper. I have learned that using colored paper can help ease students anxieties as well as assist some students with disabilities. In the students' writing notebook they will have sections for their Expository writing, Narrative Writing, Ideas (to jot down their great ideas), Readers Theater, Response to Literature, Storyboards, Grabbers and Zingers, and examples of great writing from their peers.
As a first year teacher I find myself anxious by the pressure that is put on the students and myself to be successful with several writing assessments.
I want to use techniques that I have learned at a workshop to make writing something engaging, fun, and adventurous for my students. The materials that I have requested will help my students have complete writing binders that they can make their own and take pride in!
