This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The scholars at my school are eager to learn all that music entails. Beautiful voices are emerging, future percussionist are coming to life and several have expressed their desire to be a music teacher.

The excitement of these scholars, has reignited my passion for teaching music.

My Project

The scholars at my school will use these instruments within the building during music class, and specific performance opportunities. The scholars will be given the chance to perform the elements of music, not just read about them. They will perform a steady pulse and various rhythmic patterns. They will demonstrate a crescendo and a decrescendo with the musical instruments provided. They will be given the opportunity to improvise, within the framework of a lesson on rhythm.

Our scholars will experience the pleasure that music brings, and the confidence it enables.
