Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Learning how to read is a beautiful and critical time in a child's education. Students either fall in love with reading or end up despising it. My students love listening to books being read to them, but not every child loves reading on their own. I want to ensure that they continue to have this love for reading and find that passion to want to read on their own. I believe that by setting them up with the passion for reading I am doing my part to ensure that they are on the right track to become life long learners.
"The whole world opened up to me when I learned to read." I want to ensure that I make reading an enrichment experience for my students.
This requires me to use engaging reading materials, as well as bring reading to life with hands on opportunities.
My Project
These reading materials will give my students an enrichment experience when learning to read. These particular books are leveled reading books which helps students learn to read while using books that are just right for them. By using leveled reading books, students can take pride in their own reading abilities, all while challenging themselves to continue to become more fluent readers.
In order to become a life long learner, students need to have passion to better themselves.
I feel that that this passion starts with the love for reading. Please help me guide my students to the path of success through the power of literature.
