My students need a Microsoft Surface Pro to have more options to explore the world outside their classroom and an opportunity to share their own school with others!

My Students

Explorers, anthropologists, cartographers, adventurers, paleontologists, park rangers, wildlife enthusiasts, and archaeologists. These are all words that describe students in my classroom and the things that get them excited to learn about the world around them.

Thanks to modern technology my classes are now able to take "virtual field trips" anywhere in the world!

They have learned about wildlife, fossils, and geology from amazing park rangers at Yellowstone, Bad Lands and Grand Tetons National Parks. They have made new friends from classes in New York and Massachusetts. They will get to learn first hand about fossils from the paleontologists themselves and even tour Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home! Through Skype sessions the world is now truly their playground.

My classes have spent this year exploring through the use of Skype Virtual Field Trips, Skype Lectures, and Mystery Skype where we get to interact with other students somewhere in the world as both classes alternate asking yes/no questions to try to figure out where the other is located. Now we would like to make it more mobile! This technology would give us more power to do just that and help some amazing kids further explore the world around them!

My Project

Utilizing Skype my students are able to virtually go anywhere that they can think of. Museums, National Parks, expert lectures, and even other classrooms across the world. This tech would give us the ability to be a little more mobile and to have all of our materials in one place.

Smaller groups will be able to utilize this technology easily and even have the ability to share their school with others!

Students will have the ability to be mobile and not only see what the other person is sharing but they will have more options when it comes to sharing their own surroundings making it a truly interactive experience.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
