I thoroughly enjoy teaching and making a difference in children's lives. It is an honour to be in this role. I love the students and their continuing ability to amaze me. I also enjoy the fact that the school where I teach has students from around the world, they represent over 20 different countries. Sometimes it is difficult with the language barrier but teaching computers makes it somewhat easier with the help of google translate.
Students come to my class excited and ready to explore the world through the computer.
One of the favorite thing for them to do is powerpoints and it disappoints them that the headphones do not work properly. The possibilities for them to learn english, math, science and learn about different cultures through computer is endless. I have many students who come to me on their recess or any break they have to learn. The excitement in their eyes learning english is very special and when they finally can communicate with you, its amazing.
My Project
One of the main ways we will be using these headphones for is to learn English and not to interupt the students next to them. The diversity of this school with all the different languages is extremely important for the kids to have headphones. Exploring the world through computers open up a world to these students that will and can open their minds and opportunities that they might not have. Their faces light up when they see what is out there for them to explore, learn and go.
I see over 1100 students a week and the majority of them love computers and exploring.
It is very difficult and hard to do my job when my headphones do not work. They need computer skills to compete in this world. Most of these students do not have any computers at home, so their time in here is priceless.
