My Project

When ASA went into online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, everything changed. No longer were we making music together, but instead we were at home, desperately trying to connect with one another through computer screens. Simultaneously, important social and cultural movements were in the forefront of our minds and our hearts. It was apparent that when we were to return to the classroom, everything would need to change. It would be time to help our students socially and emotionally adjust back to the educational setting. And, it would be time to encourage our students to explore and learn about music of all cultures and genres. Now that we're are back in the classroom, it's time to bring back the beat!

A new drum set will allow my students to strengthen their rhythmic and musical skills, but also help them gain a greater appreciation and understanding of the world around them.

With a new drum set, they will be able to learn different styles of drumming such as Pop/Rock, Latin, Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Caribbean, and so much more. They will learn the history and foundations of each style as well as how to perform and present these styles in way that respects and honors the cultures from which they came.
