Mrs. Simmons from Winston Salem NC is requesting Books through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

The World Belongs to Those Who READ!!

My students need these chapter books in order to be successful in our novel studies. We do lots of activities with these texts, and it is crucial that all students have their own copy.

My Students

My third graders are one of a kind! We are a family and have a strong bond! My kiddos love a good challenge! They especially love novel studies, use of technology, hands on activities and so much more! These kids truly make my job a dream!

Their excitement to learn new concepts and positive attitude about school is contagious.

I love being able to come to school each and every day and know that I truly have an impact on their lives. Their questions they ask are deep and complex.

My students come from all different backgrounds and families. The use of shared novel studies connects us and enables us to learn together as a class.

My Project

Each of the novels in my "wish list" will serve as a novel study throughout the year. Each text lends itself to different ELA standards and enhances our understanding of skills. We will also use these novels to have in depth conversations and extension projects along the way.

It is essential that every student is able to have their own text in front of them during a novel study.

It allows them to make the text their own by adding post-it notes for summarization and note taking along the way. It also helps with fluency and building vocabulary. It is important that my students are all able to see the words in front of them as we read. Thanks in advance for helping my students succeed!
