Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Fair isn't everybody getting the same thing. Fair is everybody getting what they need to succeed. Technology and materials are tools that make magic and learning become one.
My classroom is comprised of low academic students including several with learning disabilities.
Even though it is very difficult for them to comprehend the curriculum, they accept the challenge each day and show up to the classroom full of inquiry and passion to learn. The parents are predominantly low income and most are first generation American citizens. A few of my students have English speaking parents, which limits their capability of reinforcing the material taught in class and assisting with homework and projects. In addition, my school receives very little funding; therefore, educators have limited resources with which to teach our students.
My Project
My students need an iPad and laptop to discover learning through technology. They need composition notebooks for the second half of the school year. The materials I am requesting will be used to apply differentiated teaching methods in the classroom, in order to help attain grade level success. These will also be used to incorporate visual and audio learning styles to engage and promote learning.
My students will be able to do limitless activities, which include a variety of applications currently available and much more.
They will learn ways in which to use technology and these lessons will be very valuable for their future. I am also requesting composition notebooks that we need for the second half of the school year.
Through these generous donations the students' learning experiences will forever be changed.
