Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Once again the technology shuffle is happening. There doesn't seem to be enough money to keep a class set of computers available for our 2nd grade students.

We need our students to have 1:1 devices in order to become global citizens in an area that is low income, a food desert, and a little isolated.

Our school is in a depressed area that is beginning to grow so our enrollment is increasing. We are a Title 1 school and 98% of our students are on free or reduced lunches. We have foster students, homeless students, and special needs students.

We use computers every single day for research, building technology skills, on Google Classroom, FlipGrid, Kahoot, Brainpop, Mystery Science, and so many others.

My Project

I know this is a longshot because of the total. If we would be so lucky as to receive these computers, I would work tirelessly to connect my students with the world. We do research, build technology skills, explore communication,practice literacy, math, science, social studies, and history. Even PE is accessible with the internet and a computer that belongs to you for the year.

Sharing is overrated when it comes to technology and teaching half the class while the other half watches is counter productive.

Students need to tailor their needs with their devices. I can't wait to get started.
