Help me give my students 5 Chromebooks to assist them in making strides to become better readers and increase their computer literacy!

My students are beautiful shades of brown. They laugh loud and smile wide. Their eyes are full of wonder and excitement. Most of the time you can find them moving about the classroom, expending the energy that can not wait for recess. Or they are engaging me in conversation about what's going on in their neighborhood.
Although they have faced many challenges in their short lives, my students are resilient.
Many of them have been to at least three different schools in their five year academic career. Due to their learning disabilities, most of them are two grade levels behind. Those without learning disabilities, have emotional disabilities which has made learning difficulty. This has not stopped them from trying their best! I am privileged to teach such a great group of students.
Reading can take you places your feet can't walk, your bank account says is too expensive, or your circumstances don't allow. With my students reading at least two grade levels below where they should be, the places they can go are limited. Chromebooks will allow my students the opportunity to reinforce the skills they are learning in class. Students will be able to access articles relevant to the content they are studying on a level they can understand through programs such as ReadWorks and Achieve 3000. Although most of my students know how to decode unfamiliar words, some still struggle. With a Chromebook, these students can independently practice blending sounds using appropriate videos tailored to meet their needs.
Our world is becoming more technological advanced every day.
It is important that my students are able to keep up with these advances. Chromebooks will give my students the opportunity to practice navigating the internet safely, creating media to be used across various platforms (animations, PowerPoints, short stories, etc.), and become more comfortable with typing on a keyboard. The standardized test students are given at the end of the school year are administered on Chromebooks. It is vital that my students have plenty of experience working with a Chromebook so they are able to show what they know. These Chromebooks will not only help my students this school year, but they will aid my students in acquiring skills they will be able to use throughout the rest of their lives.
