I teach in a pre-k classroom that is paired with a public school in rural Georgia. We have 22 students in our Pre-K classroom. We have several special needs children in our class and each child in our classroom comes with their own diverse needs for learning.
Despite their limited access to technology, they are a group of bright and curious students who are eager to learn!
They deserve every opportunity to receive technology that will enhance learning.
The students in our classroom are creative, thoughtful and full of questions. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging activities and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
My Project
About 2/3 of our teaching occurs through the use of centers. We would like to include a technology center into our daily routine in order to help our students become prepared for their future schooling.
Our students are surrounded by technology every day, however they don't have easy access to it.
Bringing iPads into the classroom during center time will help give the students access to that technology. There are games that the children can play that will help enhance hand-eye coordination and improve critical thinking and reaction time.
Technology is a crucial part of education in 2018, and my students will benefit greatly from having daily access to iPads.
