The wonderful kids of Pre-K 105 are true explorers. Their experiences in the class room are very interactive and hands on. In the block area our students create amazing well thought out cities with bridges, schools, and hospitals. This work is very intensive.
My students are true explorers.
They learn by exploring the different centers in our classroom. They use their imagination to create and elaborate dramatic play scenarios. During this time they are using so many important skills for development such as social emotional, expressive and receptive language, using prior knowledge, counting, negotiating, using new vocabulary. These center are rich with learning.
My Project
My students will use these materials (a camera and Ipad) to reflect on their growth. By looking at pictures of the building in the block area from September and than again in January they can reflect on their learning and their growth. For example a student might say in September I was using the block to stack them up, now I am able to make wider structures and balance blocks in order to make bridges. I can take pictures of their work and record their learning on a daily basis. By seeing their growth over time they will learn to continue to try and learn in a center in order for them to get better at what they do.
Your donation will help the children observe the work that they do on a daily basis that you can not see on paper.
By have a camera and video. I can record class discussions, role playing, buildings in the block area, class trips and so much more. The students will benefit from seeing their work over time as well as sharing their work with their families. If a parent asks what did you do in school today a student can say "I made a city with blocks look." and show a picture of their work.
