My Students

My students come from a variety of economic and racial backgrounds. We are a beautiful tapestry of diversity. I currently have 27 students. A little more than half of them qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our community in located in the Central Valley in Northern California.

I am a fourth year full-time teacher so I am still trying to build our reading resources so we have a literary rich environment.

I share my passion for reading with them each and every day. They know how much I love books!!

I am passionate about teaching, learning, and my students. I pour an abundance of my own financial resources into my classroom, but sometimes I hit a budgetary wall. I am so grateful for donors that can help out!

My Project

Having a book in students hands as I read aloud, is such a powerful way to increase their literacy. The after lunch read aloud is my classroom's favorite time of the day. I get to share my enthusiasm and passion for reading, taking them along on an imaginative journey. I have such wonderful memories from my own 3rd grade teacher making Roald Dahl stories come to life.

The Wild Robot is a creative, heartfelt tale which will be the springboard for many thoughtful classroom discussions.

In this politically divisive time I find it extra important to share a tale of how we can unite those that are very different from us. It is my sincere hope that I will be able to add this title to our classroom read alouds this year.
