I teach k-5 technology at a very rural school district. Our students qualify for 100% free lunches school wide based on economics. My students are smart hardworking farm kids who spend many hours outside in the evenings (this is a wonderful thing but they are not exposed to the same technology other kids are using). Many of my students don't have access to internet simply based on their rural location. My students love using technology as much as other kids their age and my goal is to expose them and teach them so that they are equally tech savvy when competing for jobs in the future.
My Project
Using Google Expeditions students will experience a three dimensional interactive learning experience. The HP Pavillion power gaming desktop will power the HTC Vive giving the students a state of the art Virtual reality experience. Student will be able to experience real places that they could have only of dreamed about going. Google Expeditions offers curriculum to go with each point of interest.
Students will visit museums, explore space, dive underwater, research famous far away landmarks, the possibilities are endless.
Being a k-5 teacher I will work with each grade level to plan a virtual experience to reinforce what they are teaching in the classroom. The system will be set up in the technology lab for students to explore freely on their own in addition to the planned projects.
