Kings Town is a brand new school that is just about done being built. I will be entering a classroom that is a blank slate. Our children will be a diverse group economically and racially. We want to teach them skills beyond reading and writing. We want them to become collaborators and problem solvers. We want to reach the whole child through our content and support.
My Project
This package of materials and activities will allow my kindergarten class to be introduced to higher level thinking. They will collaborate with their classmates on a variety of hands on activities. They will use their creativity to create things using a wide range of materials. They will learn to be problem solvers, make mistakes, find multiple solutions to a problem, and deal with challenges. I am using these STEM materials to help teach to the whole child. The foundational skills I teach in kindergarten are a key factor in each child’s future academic and social success.
