My Students

I teach 5th grade Language Arts. By the end of the year, I hope my students have a passion for reading and for learning about the world around them.

My 5th grade Language Arts students attend Baltimore City's best public school!

One of the amazing opportunities we offer our students is to attend a 3 day/2 night trip to Echo Hill Outdoor School. On this trip they get to learn about the Chesapeake Bay, the wildlife that lives in and around it, and why it is important to preserve the Bay.

My Project

Every year our 5th grade students have the opportunity to attend Echo Hill Outdoor School. Echo Hill is an outdoor adventure school that gives the students once in a lifetime opportunities like going out onto the Chesapeake Bay and studying the wildlife, ziplining, and canoeing through swamps.

This is an amazing opportunity for our students but the out of pocket costs often hinder some of them from attending.

This year, due to our school's budget cuts the school can no longer contribute towards each child's trip. This means that our students will need to pay $200 each to be able to attend this trip. For most of our students who come from low-income families this is just too expensive for them to pay and therefore our students miss out on this amazing opportunity.

This project will pay for the coach bus that we use to go on the trip and will help to alleviate some of the costs to our students.
