My morning news crew wants to be able to bring a quality news show to their classmates and teachers. They are often held back by outdated equipment. These eager students deserve to have amazing equipment that matches their awe-inspiring desire to do great work.
The WFSS News Team is made up of 4th and 5th grade students.
They complete applications, essays, and auditions to become part of the News Team, and they arrive at school at 7:30 each morning to bring the school community all the news they'll need for the day.
My news team members are dedicated, driven, enthusiastic, and totally committed to producing a good show each and every day.
My school is an International Baccalaureate School. The school is located in a rural area, but the students are from both rural and suburban areas.
My Project
The materials requested will be used to replace outdated equipment that has been in use since before I was employed at the school. Much of the equipment is well over ten years old, and technical difficulties are frequent.
The cameras will replace the old VHS camcorders that we've been using for years. Currently, we have only one rather ragged microphone that students pass back and forth to each other. Our CD player is missing a few buttons, and our TV is a clunky CRT model with a fading picture. This equipment is in dire need of replacement.
All of this equipment will enable the news team to use up-to-date technology and provide a higher quality news program.
Many of my news team members are interested in broadcasting careers.
Up-to-date equipment will enable them to get a clearer glimpse of what is used in producing news programs. Donations to this project will also help to alleviate equipment-related frustrations when working to prepare the news show. Working equipment makes for a smoother show and happier news team members!
