The Westing Game Novel (Class Set for Intervention Program)
Help me give my students a class set of the very engaging and challenging novel, The Westing Game, to support expanding their analyzing and evaluation skills in reading.
Reading For All! Do you remember the first time you read a book that you just couldn't put down? The more time students spend reading, the better readers they will become. I have a group of students who love reading and are always seeking engaging, yet challenging books to read.
My school is in Bonney Lake, Washington and we support a very diverse student population.
Everyday, my 5th grade students attend an intervention session at our school. Currently, I have a group of highly capable students who need a challenging novel to study. These students are above grade level and are ready to delve deeper into a story. They want to analyze and discuss characters, plot lines, and the author's purpose for writing.
My fellow 5th grade teachers and I found a great curriculum for the novel, The Westing Game, that would provide our high level students just the challenge they need. We were able to purchase the curriculum ourselves but are in need of 30 copies of the book which we currently do not have in our school novel collections. We would greatly appreciate your help in purchasing a class set.
My Project
The Westing Game novel will continue to enhance the print-rich intervention program I strive to create for my advanced readers. With these books, my students will be able to enhance their analyzing skills at a challenging level.
The Westing Game will be engaging and of high interest to my advanced readers.
The best way to push reading ability is to challenge yourself and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading analysis. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
