The Wellness Way

Help me give my students furniture to use in a wellness room! The items in this project will help students learn to navigate their emotions and build resiliency.

My Students

I have the best job in the world! I am an elementary school counselor. I work with the most outstanding students. Some of these students have struggled through loss from the virus, anxiety, and personal illness.

I am creating a wellness room where students can go when they are feeling big emotions.

Students can learn strategies to cope with emotions and build resilience.

My Project

Students need help navigating the roller-coaster of the pandemic. These resources will help students learn positive coping skills and resiliency. Students need the opportunity to understand their emotions. Many have dealt with familial loss, viral illness, and isolation during this time. In order to help students learn academically, they need to understand and process their emotions. Students need a space with flexible seating and sensory tools to help them learn coping skills.

The Wellness Way room will be a comfortable, welcoming space where students can come to learn about growth mindset and positive coping skills.

Students who are experiencing big emotions will learn strategies to deal with those emotions. By having a comfortable space with flexible seating, a classroom calming kit, and sensory devices like fidget poppers and sensory devices, students will have the opportunity to feel comfortable and deal with big emotions.
