My Students

My students are a wonderful, diverse group of children. We are a Title One school, and all students get free breakfast and lunch. Many students also qualify for the Three Square weekend meals and Operation School Bell support for school supplies and clothing.

This class has shown a love for books and I want to keep that passion growing!

Every day these children face personal challenges, but they show up with determination to learn and become well educated people!

We work hard together to make their dreams come true!

My Project

The book "The War That Saved My Life" by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley is a story of a young girl who overcomes emotional and physical abuse during WWII. Young Ada is physically disabled, a caretaker for her younger brother, and has been denied any education.

Ada's triumphs will inspire every student in third grade at my school, where many students have their own struggles to work through.

These books will be rotated through four classrooms, for many years to come, and so will be enjoyed by hundreds of students. The six copies of the sequel will be used for small groups, for students who can't get enough of the story!
