My students need an opportunity to experience the wonderful aspects of our world. Virtual field trips can bring students to the bottom of the ocean, the great wall of China, or the top of Mount Everest.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a Title I school, our students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Many of our students do not have the opportunity to experience the vast world that surrounds them.
Throughout the year, our grade levels plan wonderful field trips for their students. However, because of transportation and funding limitations, students are only able to experience 1 or 2 field trips a year.
Over half of our student body uses free or reduced lunch. By providing our students the opportunity to experience the world using Virtual Reality Technology we will be allowing many students, who would have otherwise not have an opportunity to have these adventures, to experience much, much more.
We all know that experience is the seed of knowledge. And if knowledge is power, then providing our students an opportunity to have more experiences will, ultimately, increase their power.
My Project
Through collaboration with grade level teams, we will develop lesson plans which meet the curricular requirements of various grade levels and pair them up with specific virtual reality experiences.
This project is designed to provide virtual reality field trip experiences through Google Expedition kits to all grade levels at my school (K - 6).
The long term goal is to integrate these virtual reality field trips with Problem Based Learning lessons that our grade levels are conducting. Over a short period of time lesson plans that correlate with VR experiences and curriculum will be developed and the amount of front end planning will be reduced significantly.
My vision for this, is a fluid integration of VR experiences for our students so they may enhance their experiences and learning.
