Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Visual Art Teacher of over 550 elementary school students. My students are hardworking and overcome many obstacles to produce great artwork. My students come to Art Class excited to learn something new and create something with their hands.
For many students, Art is the only class where they feel successful.
Art class can be a place where the language is visual, so ELL students can feel comfortable. Unfortunately, budgetary constraints can hinder students' exploration of materials. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
My Project
Value is the element of art that makes drawings come to life! Value is shading--making a color light, medium and dark, which makes drawing appear more realistic. Learning this skill gets the "WOW!!" from kids that we Art Teachers love to hear. Every year my students and I draw snowmen. When students learn to add value to a snowman it makes him jump off of the page rather than melting into the background.
My students need engaging art materials to excite their interest in learning to create value.
My students need metallic and glitter crayons, construction paper crayons, ink pads, oil pastels, and sharpie markers.
