Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are great kids who use a lot of basic supplies but can't always get them from home.
They write like the Dickens but erase like it too.
They love coloring so much that it bleeds off the pages onto their desks and hands. They could single-handedly support Dunder Mifflin for an entire fiscal year.
Their creativity surprises and delights. Who wouldn't want to see them transform the fabulous ideas inside their heads into tangible works of scholarship and art?
My Project
My ultimate goal is to foster a student community that collaborates across classes, grades, subjects, and backgrounds where every voice is heard and can be expressed through myriad forms. The Vallejo Creators Corner is that ideal space realized.
Your donation to this project will provide students with a safe, protected, and creative space where they can collaborate across interdisciplinary projects in Engineering, Applied Sciences, English, Social Sciences, Mathematics, and the Arts.
These materials will provide storage space for books, art supplies, math and engineering equipment, and project cubbies. The bean bags will create a seating area that will be used for reading, research, and a place to sit with other students and engage each other.
The cork boards and tiles will be used to display student work for different classes. The binder clips will be used to hang up work as well as for holding together project papers and designs. The dry erase boards will be used for collaboration on projects.
The construction paper, paints, painting book, and brushes are for art components of projects. The floor lamps will provide better lighting than the overhead fluorescent lights for reading, studying, and project building.
The safe will be used to place mobile devices as the Vallejo Creators Corner will not allow such devices within its borders. Finally, the teacher coloring planner will be used by the teacher to help creatively plan lessons and projects.
