My Project

Every year I make sure to leave time and space for students to engage in interest-based learning. Over the years I have noticed some common interests. Many students in kindergarten are especially excited to explore magical animals or dinosaurs. This year my students keep talking about space!

The materials in this project are designed to spark curiosity and questions about the universe.

We will use the globes to ask questions about the earth. The stars and gems will spark interest about constellations and galaxies. The clay will help students create models of the moon and planets. Finally, the black sheets will help us share knowledge with other classrooms by creating our own planetarium.

Project-based learning focused on student interests is a wonderful way to build life-long learners and gives me an opportunity to weave connections to math, science and literature along the way.
