My Students

My students are from low income households. All students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. General Music classes give students a chance to explore different instruments such as guitar, keyboard, and drums as well as learn to create their own music. My goal is to make creating music accessible to as many students in the school as possible.

Putting instruments in student's hands is a great way to unlock their creativity and have them look forward to coming to school.

My Project

In Modern Music class students have the opportunity to learn guitar, keyboard, drums and other instruments. Adding ukulele to their experience will give students easier access and quicker successes in class and lead to more enjoyable lessons.

Ukuleles will allow more students to tap into their musical abilities and creativity therefore allowing greater success for all ability levels!

Ukuleles also open the door to exploring music and culture from around the world. In addition to tapping into the ukulele's growing involvement in popular music, we can explore the history of what makes the instrument so popular to begin with.
