Help me give my students these Fire notebooks and accessories, to help my students develop the 21st-century skills they will need to succeed in the classroom today and workplace tomorrow.
We are a wonderful Title I charter school that uses a School-wide Enrichment Model (SEM.) This allows each student an opportunity to find and develop his or her own unique profile of gifts and talents. Students pursue questions of personal interest to them which provides them more engaging learning opportunities.
I teach students from a range of diverse backgrounds, however, there are more similarities than differences.
All of my first graders are extremely active with lots of energy. They love having fun and playing games. They are very 'hands-on' and extremely excited to learn new things.
Another commonality my students have is a new teacher who will love, nurture and enthusiastically teach them everything they will need to know, but she does not have a lot of extra money to buy all the resources they will need to generate a love of learning that will last for the rest of their school journey.

My Project
Most of my students are below average in math and reading. Most of this comes from not engaging in print materials like worksheets or books. My students' attention span is about 5 minutes on a good day.
Given the choice between reading a book or playing on a tablet, students will choose a tablet every time.
When my students are on tablets their attention span is easily 20 minutes. Reading a book on Raz-kids or engaging in concepts by answering questions on a tablet is an easy solution to help the students achieve grade-level mastery and above. This project will allow me to have a 1:1 technology ratio with all the equipment we need to excel in a 21st-century environment.
