Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are curious. About everything! The 'why?' questions just keep coming. They are so eager to absorb the world around them through first hand experiences. "Don't tell me; show me!" is their mantra.
Students are active and introspective.
I love that they are caring and learning about their emotional selves and how to get along with others. Each student provides a unique and special contribution to the real world. Students are always asking, "when is it time...?" or "how much longer until lunch?" etc. The Time is Now! project will empower them to answer their own questions about time and help them navigate through their school day.
My Project
The Time is Now! project is designed to teach students how to tell time in addition to time management strategies. Each student wears an analog watch during the day and is prompted by the teacher and/or schedule at each transition to 'check the time.' By having students wear their own watches, individual monitoring is provided to students who need additional structure.
These special teaching watches literally put the learning into students' hands (wrists).
These watches will make a huge difference as students are able to access this skill as often as they need and learn to manage time management as they complete tasks and activities.
