The Time For Kids is Now!

My students need non-fiction content that is relevant, engaging and reflects current events. Time For Kids will help me explicitly teach reading and making sense of graphs, captions, citations, quotes and data and more.

My Students

My students cover a wide range of abilities and personalities. Having a diverse classroom allows us to learn from each other. We work on creating a community that fosters kindness, personal best and respect for all. In our class, we accept differences and learn to work with others. A mix of partner and group work allow us to refine interpersonal skills and flex the patience that will be used in all aspects of life.

As a public school teacher my role is to encourage all students to learn, develop and grow as scholars.

Creating projects that meet rigorous standards while providing multiple learning styles to engage is my passion. Encouraging students to dig deeper, ask questions and consider multiple perspectives is a daily focus in our room. My students are expanding their understanding all day, everyday!

My Project

My students need to practice the skills required to be critical thinkers while reading. One area that is historically problematic is non-fiction reading skills. The ability to slow down and understand the data presented in a graph or chart, make connections about the content they read and formulating a plan to think more deeply about the content is crucial in supporting students in the upper grades. Time For Kids magazine will allow them to do just that.

Providing material that allows them to research more on a topic, investigate citations, and make sense of information will help them be better readers for life.
