My students need laser printer toner for printing lab reports and other information in Chemistry and Advanced Placement Chemistry.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach students in a high poverty, rural high school in Georgia who have stepped up to the plate and enrolled in Advanced Placement Chemistry. These students have overcome numerous obstacles in their lives and have decided that after high school they will further their education.
In Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry, there are required labs that must be completed.
These labs must be done as the students are tested over various labs on the AP Chemistry exam. By not having the resources to complete the labs, the students are at a disadvantage in that they cannot acquire the necessary content knowledge to do well on the exam. Students must do well on the exam in order to receive college credit.
Through a recent AP grant, our school acquired Vernier Labpro software along with HP LaserJet and Color LaserJet printers. The software and printers are a wonderful addition to our Advanced Placement Chemistry laboratory program, but we need a supply of black toner for our HP laser printers for printing graphs and other data. The acquisition of the toner cartridges will enable us to expedite our reporting procedures and help make our Advanced Placement Chemistry program equal to the chemistry programs on college campuses.
Your donation to this cause will enable my students to have a meaningful educational experience that will prepare them for college-level courses.
By adding these technological advances, our Advanced Placement Chemistry program will be on the level that is needed for our students to earn the college credit that they so much desire.
