This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day despite the challenges faced in and out of the classroom. Majority of my students come from two housing communities and qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
My students are the next generation of future engineers, scientists, mathematicians, doctors and computer programmers.
Our school creed states, "I vow to always try my best embracing all that new. I will work hard. I will succeed, in everything I do." It is my goal to equip my students with the the skills necessary to meet the demands of a globally competitive workforce.
My Project
Our 21st Century learners are tech savvy. These materials will make a difference by providing my students the opportunity to learn by incorporating technology into the classroom. The Osmo coding games will assist my future Computer Programmers in learning the basics of coding.
Coding promotes innovation, builds confidence, and encourages creativity.
Osmo and the associated coding games will teach my students problem solving skills. The coding blocks will allow my students to create patterns and sequences.
As a teacher, I want my students to be exposed to STEM careers. Coding Jam and Coding Awbie will help to spark my students interest in Computer Science.
