Help me give my students professional artists' experience with these supplies because they have never used an easel or painted on canvas or used plaster.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of my students have artistic abilities and school is where they flourish because they can get hands-on projects while exploring different mediums. It’s cute that they want their art to be perfect and have to be told constantly that as an artist will always find flaws in their work. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
My Project
All students want to experience painting and I try to make that happen. However, I think the experience would mean even more to them if they could pretend to be in their own studio. The opportunity to use an easel and a canvas does not take place in my class. Providing these materials would really enlighten their painting experience. We could pretend to be famous artists while painting our own Mona Lisa's or Starry Nights. Students would utilize art words that they only hear about. I imagine us dressing in berets, listening to music, and expressing ourselves with our paintbrushes. They will also discover that other mediums like oil pastels work wonderfully on canvas. Students will also be able to use the plaster and the wire to experience two mediums used for creating sculpture.
