The students attending our Dual Language program come from low-income families. The student population at our school is African-American, Hispanic, Caucasian, and Asian. They share their culture, language, background knowledge, learning, dreams, and the goal to become bilingual.
The Dual Language program goal is that its students become proficiency in both languages (English and Spanish) in the four domains: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Most of the students in the Dual language program take the bus to get school. It motivates me to continue finding way to make learning fun.
My Project
As bilingual literacy interventionist, I work with kindergarten to fifth graders. It is hard for the students to stay focus on the lesson when sitting on hard chairs. The cushion seats will help the students to focus on learning while feeling comfortable. The kindergarteners and first grade students are still on the process of learning to hold pencils while writing. Holding the pencils could cause sore muscles. In these learning stages students need pencil grips to make writing more comfortable. Using cushion seats and pencil grips will make learning easier.
These materials will increase the students' interest in learning and prevent possible sore muscles.
They will focus on the lessons longer periods and make learning more productive.
