I haven’t been with the district long, but I can already see the love and unity that Greenville Area School District has for each other. Our elementary schools combined as of this year, so our students will all be in the same building learning from one another. The students are excited to formally an entity of one- eager to learn, perform, and in particular to me... READ! These students are leaders in reading, with many being represented at the collegiate level!
My Project
Libraries are spaces where students of all ages can gain experience and knowledge- the epicenter of our school! This project will create learning labs for the elementary with focus on literature and science. Students will have access to a mixture of new technology and tools that will provide the student an opportunity to build skills and gain knowledge that makes real world connections. Students will read stories featuring the topics of robotics, prosthetic, and our environment. These opportunities will give students experience with 21st century skills of robotics and programming, along with 3D printing, and Makerspaces. This experience is STEM focused and may also give a student an idea for a future profession.
The Wild Robot and the Wild Robot Escapes are books that focuses on an unusual relationship formed between robots and humans/animals.
As we read the story, the students will be discovering how robots are programmed, work, and can be helpful. Students will use the robot kits to be engineers and create actions/movements and discover how our own students can be helpful in our school.
