My students need a speaker in order to watch presentations and films during lunch times and outdoors.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
Picture a group of kids who are growing up in homeless housing. That's my room. As one of the few states that guarantee family housing, our shelters are overflowing. The state has purchased temporary apartment housing near our school, and well over half of our population is in our area for a short, undetermined amount of time. With 100% of our student body receiving free breakfast, lunch, and snack, school is their safe place.
Despite obstacles that would be too much for many adults, they remain bright, funny, and fun-loving, and they really enjoy the safety and security that school brings.
Our school not only keeps the kids safe, but it's a place where learning comes alive and is so fun!
This past year we were able to add a projector and DVD player to our lunch time routine. Our hope was to share Reading Rainbow episodes and Magic School Bus movies with students during indoor lunch breaks. As well, we'd love to bring our projector and speaker OUTDOORS to do more learning in an outdoor classroom! Math can be uncovered in our garden, with music playing in the background. Music and math seem to really go hand in hand, along with science and our Bill Nye episodes.
We are in desperate need of a much larger speaker to fill a busy and noisy lunch room with poetry, music, and films, as well as our outdoor garden space for outdoor learning.
Right now about 50-60 students each lunch together and it would be a wonderful time for students to sit and listen to exciting films or a reading rainbow episode, we just need the speaker loud enough to fill the space. Listening and Lunching!
