I am a Music Teacher in an Urban Elementary School. I work with all of our students, Pre-K through grade eight.

In our music class I often use recordings of music for listening lessons, movement, and folk dance. My music collection is comprised of hundreds of CDs and legal digital downloads. Our current classroom "sound system" includes a small, low-powered CD player and an even lower quality pair of computer speakers. The sound is usually very quiet and hard for my students to hear, and juggling CDs throughout the day and within lessons can be a hassle, and compromises valuable teaching time.

I recently attended a course where the teacher used a dock speaker system with her iPod. She had all of the recorded materials easily organized on the iPod and the sound from the speakers was incredible! I immediately thought of how this system would simplify, and greatly improve the quality of the use of recorded music in my classroom.
