Help me give my students quality headphones so that I can create individual, differentiated learning experiences that allow all students to learn at their own pace.
I teach 127 sixth grader Mathematicians. I teach four sections of regular math and one section of an accelerated math curriculum called Math+. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, socioeconomic statuses. Additionally, our school is home to a wide variety of races, 40% Black, 29% White, and 20% Hispanic. Over the five blocks I teach, about one-third of my students are receiving special education services.
My goal is to provide all students with challenging, relatable experiences that engage them in practicing new skills and help them develop confidence as mathematicians.
I want to provide unique learning opportunities and experiences for my students that engage them in our content and help them form connections to real life experiences. I want to make learning challenging, interesting, and fun for the diverse mathematicians in my school by creating experiences and "Mathematical Moments" that they will remember.
My Project
Having quality headphones for my students will allow students to watch videos of mini-lessons that reteach content they are struggling with or introduce new content we will be learning. These videos will allow students to learn new information or practice old content that they are struggling with.
Headphones will allow students to be appropriately challenged and learn at their own pace.
The headphones will allow some students to move forward to new content while other students build background knowledge or complete a re-teach activity. This will make a huge difference in their learning because I will be able to work with small groups while other students start on new material or expanded activities.
