Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Although they face a life of difficultly outside our four walls, my students have always been excited about learning since day one.
Having technology helps extend their exploration of the English language.
However, technology comes with distractions and my students need to focus on their technology. The majority of my students are English language learners. Technology gives them one-on-one time to experience and interact with our language. With the funding for headphones we will give them a distraction-free environment where they can succeed.
My Project
This project will give my students the ability to focus on their technology learning during their independent study time. In a classroom filled with English language learners, time with technology is designed to increase their concentration and extend their learning. It is vital that the students are focused in and learning without outside distractions. We all know that six and seven year old's have a hard time staying on task when there is a lot going on around them. The headphones will reduce the distractions and increase their attentiveness to the materials being presented via the hands-on classroom technology.
