This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am the school social worker for NHS Success Academy in Noblesville, In. I have the opportunity to work with some of the brightest, creative, and talented students. Our academy is a program that focuses on alternative education for our students.
Our focus is on education, life skills, and building the whole person.
Every student is not successful in a traditional high school setting and MSA offers opportunities for students to get more supportive services while in a smaller environment with fewer distractions and more individualized support.
My Project
We offer students an alternative education that focuses on mental health, building life skills, academics, and support. Our main goal is to meet our students where they are and with them, create a successful plan of action.
Many of our students face challenges on a daily basis and we want our program to be a place where they feel supported.
One way we try to eliminate some of those barriers is by making sure their basic needs are met. We are not only providing snacks in the classroom to our students, but we are also providing food care packages for them to take home as needed.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
